Former NALSAR VC Faizan Mustafa appointed as new VC of CNLU Patna

After the farewell of former NALSAR VC Faizan Mustafa from NALSAR last year, the student bodies demanded his reappointment at NALSAR, now he is appointed as new Vice-Chancellor Of CNLU Patna.

Professor Faizan Mustafa has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor of the Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) Patna.

The appointment was made on the recommendation of the search committee headed by former Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, said Prof SP Singh, social sciences dean and facilitator of the search committee, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Professor Mustafa will succeed Dr Mridula Mishra, the outgoing CNLU VC. 

Earlier, Dr Mustafa has served as the dean and registrar at the Aligarh Muslim University. He has also served as the former vice-chancellor of the National Academy of Legal Studies And Research. Also, served as the founding vice-chancellor of the National Law University Odisha (NLU Odisha). 

VC Faizan Mustafa holds a BA LLB degree, an LLM in criminal law, and a Ph.D in copyright law from the Aligarh Muslim University. He also holds a diploma in International and Comparative Human Rights Law from the International Institute of Human Rights.

In the past, he has also served as the director of the Kalinga Institute of Information Technology (KIIT) school of law, as well as a visiting faculty at the Kautilya School of Public Policy. 

Mustafa is the recipient of both Commonwealth Scholarship as well as Fulbright Fellowship. He was conferred the SAARC’s ‘Best Law Teacher Award’ in 2014 and has delivered lectures in almost 32 countries of the world like USA, UK, Australia, Germany, China, Germany, Israel etc. He also runs a YouTube channel, Legal Awareness WebSeries, which has over 700,000 subscribers.
