After ABVP accused the government-run Indore law college of promoting fundamentalism, now the Principal and assistant professor have been suspended after a committee's report on the issue.
The principal and an assistant professor of government-run Naveen Law College in Indore, who allegedly kept a copy of Dr Farhat Khan's book in its library, were suspended following the report of a committee, officials said.
State home minister Narottam Mishra said, “Controversial writer Farhat Khan was arrested in Pune when she was undergoing dialysis in a hospital there. Papers were also handed over to her,” as reported by The Print.
Moreover, three other faculty members of the college are terminated from the law college, out of these three faculty two were contractual members and one was visiting faculty member.
The action was taken based on a report submitted by a seven-member committee which was set up by the state government.
As per the TOI report, some official sources revealed that the report had a hint of professors talking against the removal of article 370 of the Indian Constitution.
The committee was set up after ABVP had lodged a complaint raising 17 issues that alleged that some faculty members belonging to minority religions are propagating religious extremism and indiscipline.
Author of controversial book arrested
Madhya Pradesh police on Thursday arrested Dr Farhat Khan, writer of a `controversial’ book, while she was undergoing dialysis at a Pune hospital, confirmed Mishra.
Earlier, Lucky Adiwal, leader of the RSS-affiliated student union Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and LLM student at the college, had filed a complaint against Khan, her publisher Amar Law Publication, principal of Government Naveen Law College Dr Inamur Rehman and professor Mirza Mojij Baig over the book.
The complaint alleged that the book contained highly objectionable matters against the Hindu community and RSS, and promoted religious hatred.
