Madhusudan Law University in Odisha is now UGC recognised

Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack has got UGC (University Grants Commission) recognition.

Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack is the oldest law college in the state. It has now got the UGC (University Grants Commission) recognition, which implies it has been included in the list of universities established according to section 2 of the UGC Act, 1956. Now the university can receive financial assistance from the central government.

UGC offers financial aid to the eligible colleges which are included under section 2(f) and declared fit to receive this aid from the central government under section 12(B) of the UGC Act,1956.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Twitter, "Happy to share that Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack has been included in the list of Universities established as per section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. The University will soon be able to receive central assistance under the section 12(b) of the UGC Act."

"The eight decade-old institution named after Utkal Gourab Madhubabu is one of the best law colleges in the region. The central government is committed to transform the higher education landscape as per the vision of PM Shri @narendramodi and in line with the NEP," he said in another tweet.

The college was established in the year 1949. It was named after Utkal Gourab Madhubabu. The popular courses offered by the university are LLB (Bachelor of Law), and BA LLB (Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law). The ownership type is public/government. It offers LLB with 240 seats, BA LLB with 60 seats and also offers LLM (Master of Laws).
