NALSAR Director appointed Member of Patent Agent Examination 2023

Professor Anindya Sircar, DPIIT IPR Chair Professor and Director of the N. C. Banerjee Centre for IPR Studies at NALSAR, has been appointed, as an External Member, to the Examination Board of the Patent Agent Examination 2023. The appointment is done by the Government of India’s Office of the Controller General of Patents, Design, and Trade Marks.

NALSAR University of Law's faculty member is appointed as an External Member, to the Examination Board of the Patent Agent Examination 2023. Government of India’s Office of the Controller General of Patents, Design, and Trade Marks appointed Professor Anindya Sircar, DPIIT IPR Chair Professor and Director of the N. C. Banerjee Centre for IPR Studies at NALSAR as the External Member of the Board.

His appointment is done by the Government of India’s Office of the Controller General of Patents, Design, and Trade Marks. The appointment is another affirmation of Professor Sircar’s recognized expertise in and leadership of the field, said NALSAR's official statement.

As per the Government of India's office order, for the purpose of conducting Patent Agent Examination 2023 in accordance with section 126 of the Patents Act, 1970 read with rule 110 of the Patents Rules 2003 and Trade Marks Agent Examination 2023 under Rule 144 of the Trade Marks Rules, 2017, an Examination Board is to be constituted for the transparent and smooth conduction of examinations. The examination board has CGPDTM as Chairman of the committee to be represented by the Head of Office (Technical): Dr Dinesh P Patil, Dy. Controller of Patents & Designs, external members include - G Raghavendra Rao (Rtd), Joint Secretary and Former Registrar of Copyrights, Prof Prabuddha Ganguli, CEO Vision IPR, Smt. Dr Malathi Lkshmikumaran, Patent Agent, Dr Anindya Sirkar, DPIIT IPR Chair Professor & Professor (Law), NALSAR Hyderabad, Dr Yogesh Pai, DPIIT IPR Chair Professor & Associate Professor at NLU Delhi.

Internal members are Dr Amarendra Samal Dy. Controller of Patents and Design, Dr Pawan Kumar Pandey, Dy. Registrar of Trademarks & GI.

The members of the board to review the procedures to be followed and advise the office of CGPDTM for the smooth conduction of the said exams. The board is to submit the report to CGPDTM on a regular basis and will meet as and when necessary either in person and/or through virtual mode. The external members of the board are made eligible for TA as per the rules.
