The 8th international and twelfth biennial conference of the Indian Society of Victimology, securing justice for victims of crime at RGNUL started today, November 3, 2022.

The Centre for Criminology, Criminal Justice and Victimology at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) is organising the 8th inter-international and twelfth biennial conference of the Indian Society of Victimology, securing justice for victims of crime. It started today, November 3, 2022, and the three-day conference will end on November 5, 2022.

The conference is for academicians, victim advocates, activists, students, researchers and all others involved in victim advocacy and victim assistance.

The inaugural will start today at 4 pm in the university auditorium. Banwarilal Purohit Ji, Governor Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh will be the Chief Guest for the inaugural session.

The Indian Society of Victimology is a national-level professional society that was founded in 1992 under the aegis of Professor K. Chockalingam, the then Head of the Department of Criminology, the University of Madras along with senior police officers Dr R. K. Raghavan and Mr L. N. Venkatesan. The members of the society come from a global fraternity of criminologists, victimologists, government officials, criminal justice stakeholders, scholars, students and practitioners.

The Centre for Criminology, Criminal Justice and Victimology (CCV) has been set up at the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab for advanced research, training, policy analysis and consultancy in the areas concerning criminology, criminal justice and victimology. The Centre aims to assist and facilitate law enforcement agencies, the bench, the bar and academic institutions by venturing into unexplored areas or lesser intruded aspects of the criminal justice administration.
