The first offline fest after the pandemic, Atharva 2022 was hosted by the South Calcutta Law College. During the fest, ten teams from various colleges played the knockout matches and the top four teams including Hazra Law College, Ballygunge Science College, Gariahat Industrial Training Institute (Gariahat ITI) and Tollygunge Industrial Training Institute (Tollygunge ITI) — qualified for the semi-finals, as reported by Telegraph India.

Ballygunge Science College team became the champion after winning against Gariahat ITI.

Atharva 2022 witnesses debate competition, classical dance performances

As per reports, the second day of the Atharva 2022 fest saw students participating in a debate competition, cross examination, solo singing competition, and dance competition.

The fest saw dances of all forms from Bharatanatyam, Odissi and Kathak to contemporary dances.

Omicron variants behind Patiala Law University's Covid-19 outbreak

While South Calcutta Law College conducted the offline fest after the pandemic time, another law university in Punjab is reeling from the effect of recent Covid cases reported in its law college. The genome sequencing has confirmed that distinct subvariants of Omicron—designated as BA.2 and BA.3 — were the predominant cause of the Covid outbreak at the Rajiv Gandhi National University for Law (RGNUL), as reported by Tribune India.

Dr Sumeet Singh, District Epidemiologist, said, “There was not much significant variation in the symptoms of the sublineages of Omicron. The majority of the positive students are asymptomatic while only a few exhibited symptoms which are similar to the dominant sublineage-variant of the Omicron.”
