Utkal university announced to conduct the pending semester examinations of law students in online mode.
Utkal university decided to conduct pending law exams for 3 years Bachelor of Law (LLB) course and 5 years integrated Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA LLB - Hons) courses on an emergency basis. The university's authorities have decided to take the examination in an online mode and sufficient gaps will be provided between each test so that the students can get time to prepare.
The online exams of the third and seventh semesters of law students will start from September 3 and 9 respectively. The first and fifth semester exams will start on September 13 and 19 respectively. The remaining exams will be conducted after the Durga Puja holidays.
The decision was taken after students from the four law colleges protested against offline examinations. On Monday, the students of the colleges The Law College, University Law College, Madhu Sudan Law College, and Capital Law College protested in front of the university in Bhubaneswar.
Utkal University was established in 1943 in Bhubaneswar. The university is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is the oldest university in the state. The university is accredited with an "A+" Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
Utkal University has 27 post-graduate teaching and research departments, and UGC has granted Departmental Research Support/ Centre of Advance Studies status to 17 PG departments in the campus. The varsity has 371 affiliated colleges for different streams including Law, Homeopathy, Humanities, Social Sciences, Medicine, Commerce & Management, and Science & Technology. Utkal university also provides three UGC sponsored innovative programmes, 15 sponsored courses and three constituent institutions: MS Law College at Cuttack, Directorate of Distance & Continuing Education, and University Law College at Vani Vihar.
