Maharashtra Summer Vacation 2022 Postponed until April 30? Department issues clarification

Earlier, in order to curb the academic loss that took place due to the extended lockdown in the state, Maharashtra Education Department had asked the schools to conduct regular classes until April 30, 2022.

Maharashtra School Reopening: The education department of Maharashtra on Tuesday issued a clarification over its recent circular on reopening of all schools for Classes 1 to 9 until April 30 to tide overtime losses that took place during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools with complete syllabus need not open

The department said that schools that have completed the syllabus for the year need not remain open until April 30. According to PTI, a top official from the education department also clarified that the department has not canceled the summer vacation 2022.

"Schools which are yet to finish the syllabus can operate for the whole day including Sunday. Schools that have completed the syllabus need not function till April end," said Education department commissioner Suraj Mandhare.

Summer Vacation 2022 Postponed?

Earlier, in order to curb the academic loss that took place due to the extended lockdown in the state, Maharashtra Education Department had asked the schools to conduct regular classes until April 30, 2022. The department also directed all the schools to conduct the annual examinations for Classes 1 to 9 and 11 in the third week of April and declare results by May.

Postponing the summer vacations (which usually start from April 15), the education department had asked schools to function on full days on Saturdays and voluntarily on Sundays as well. This has been done in order to make up for the loss of learning.

The GR issued by Maharashtra Government I M Kazi, Joint Secretary, asked the schools to conduct the examination in the last weeks of April and release the results by May. The department has not mentioned any specific date for result declaration.
