Chief Minister has said that offline classes can resume for students of Class 9 to 12. However, the department is yet to make an official announcement regarding the reopening date.

Manipur School Reopening: The government of Manipur has decided to reopen schools after being closed for a long period of time. Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has given a nod to commence offline classes. Chief Minister has said that offline classes can resume for students of Class 9 to 12. However, the department is yet to make an official announcement regarding the reopening date. The decision has been taken in Manipur after witnessing a significant decline in the number of COVID-19 cases.

The school reopening announcement was made at the launch event of face-to-face classes under the Chief Minister’s Civil Services Coaching Scheme (CMCS) 2021-22 at the State Academy of Training (SAT) premises in Imphal. Reports state that schools will be allowed to commence offline classes. However, attendance will not be mandatory as schools will conduct online classes as well. Students can choose to stay at home and continue with online classes.

The detailed guidelines will be issued by the government and Education Department soon. These guidelines will be based on the COVID-19 protocols issued by the health ministry to avoid the spread of the virus.

Pointing out at the decline in the number of COVID-19 cases, CM N Biren said that people must not think that the fight against the virus is over. He requested all sections of the population to stay alert and continue following the safety protocols in place. The minister also said that wearing of masks, maintaining social distancing and using sanitizers are mandatory as the primary precaution against COVID-19 spread.
