Ministry of Human Resource Development launched the – Know your College portal to mark the celebration of National Education Day on November 11, 2014. As per the official release by the Government of India this portal is “an application developed for helping a prospective student make a valued judgment of the college he / she wishes to join by providing him / her the necessary information about the college”.
On this education portal students can view the latest announcements and upcoming events in the field of education. Students can even conduct a detailed research on any college (technical college or any other higher education institution) they wish to join. Students can also seek information regarding admissions, scholarships, awards, loans, placements etc on this web portal.
Other initiatives undertaken by the Government of India on National Education Day include:
- Saksham: a college level scholarship for differently-abled, needy and meritorious children.
- Pragati: a scholarship for girl students who are pursuing technical education at college level.
- Skill Assessment Matrix for Vocational Advancement of Youth (SAMAVAY): which allows multiple pathways between Vocational education – skills, education and job markets.
- Unnat Bharat Abhiyan: to involve higher educational institutions to work with the people of rural India.
