IIM-A Special Need-Based Scholarships 2024

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has introduced several scholarship initiatives to support its students across various needs and backgrounds. One key offering is the Special Need-Based Scholarships, available for students admitted to the two-year postgraduate programs (PGP and PGP-FABM) in 2022. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate a gross annual family income below INR 15 lakhs from the previous financial year. The assessment includes proof of family income, educational loans, and past earnings, with consideration given to movable and immovable family assets, number of dependents, and other relevant criteria.

IIM Ahmedabad Exit Scholarships 2024

IIM-A also offers Exit Scholarships to support graduates in pursuing entrepreneurship, social sector careers, or doctoral studies.

- Entrepreneurship Scholarships: Graduating students who choose to become entrepreneurs can receive a monthly stipend of INR 40,000 for up to three years. Applicants must forgo placement opportunities and present a viable business plan. This scheme has been in place since the 2014-16 batch.

- Not-for-Profit Organization Scholarships: To promote careers in social sectors, two students per batch can receive scholarships ranging from INR 3 lakhs to 4 lakhs annually for up to three years. This initiative has been available since the 2015-17 batch.

- Doctoral Studies Scholarships: Two students per batch who pursue doctoral studies, either domestically or internationally, can receive INR 3 to 4 lakhs per year for up to three years. This scheme has been implemented from the 2015-17 batch.

Government of India Scholarships at IIM Ahmedabad

Several scholarships are offered by the Government of India:

- SC/ST Scholarships: Under the Central Sector Scheme for Top Class Education, meritorious SC/ST students with family incomes up to INR 8 lakhs for SC and INR 6 lakhs for ST are eligible.

- Minority Welfare Scholarship: For students from minority communities with an annual family income up to INR  2.5 lakhs.

- Citi-IIMA Scholarship: INR 8 lakhs for three first-year students based on merit.

- Dainik Bhaskar Merit-cum-Means Scholarship: Up to INR 5.6 lakhs each for eight first-year students.

- Mirae Asset Foundation Scholarship: INR 5 lakhs each for three first-year students.

- Aditya Birla Group Scholarships: INR 1.75 lakhs per year for two or three meritorious students.

- OP Jindal Engineering and Management Scholarship: INR 1.5 lakhs awarded to one or two students based on academic performance.

- T. Thomas Scholarship: INR 1 lakh for a second-year student based on merit-cum-means criteria.

- IDFC First Bank Scholarship: INR 1 lakh per year for seven to eight students based on need.

General Conditions for Scholarships and Financial Aid

Disciplinary Violations: Students found guilty of violating the Institute’s disciplinary norms or engaging in misconduct will not be eligible for scholarships or financial aid.

Minimum Grade Points: The Financial Aid and Awards Committee may set minimum grade point requirements for eligibility for scholarships.

Multiple Awards: Students can accept more than one scholarship or financial aid in an academic year, provided:

  - There are no objections from the awarding agencies or sponsors.

  - The total financial aid does not exceed the actual yearly expenses (including program fees, other charges, boarding, lodging, and personal expenses up to Rs. 30,000) payable to IIMA.

Notification Requirement: Scholarship or financial aid recipients must inform the Admissions Office if they receive additional financial aid from sources other than the Institute.

Subject to Change: The terms governing scholarships and financial aid may be revised at the discretion of the Institute or sponsor organizations.

Withdrawal of Aid: The Institute reserves the right to withdraw scholarships or financial aid if:

  - False information was provided in the application.

  - There is a violation of disciplinary norms.

  - There is evidence of misconduct.

Final Decisions: The decisions made by the Financial Aid and Awards Committee regarding scholarships and financial aid are final.
