The Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Guwahati is set to begin its academic sessions in the upcoming year, as confirmed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following a meeting with Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Government Support and Initiatives

Chief Minister Sarma expressed his pleasure at the Education Minister's approval for IIM-Guwahati to initiate courses from the next academic year. Additionally, discussions revolved around the Government of India's assistance to Assam under the PM-USHA scheme, aimed at funding state institutions. Sarma highlighted the Minister's positive consideration for enhancing the capacity of Assam's Teacher Training Institute and strategies to bolster technical education across the state.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the fruitful discussions held with Chief Minister Sarma. He outlined plans to revolutionize Assam's research, innovation, and education sectors, aiming to connect the state's talented youth with increased educational, skilling, and employment opportunities.

"NEP (National Education Policy) remains a guiding principle in making our teaching and learning landscape more vibrant," stated Pradhan. He reaffirmed the Education Ministry's commitment to strengthening academic institutions and teachers' capacities, ensuring equitable access to quality education aligned with Assam's educational priorities.

"With education as the mother-ship and #Purvodaya as the compass, PM Shri @narendramodi's government remains committed to realizing aspirations, empowering people, and transforming Assam into a growth engine of Viksit Bharat," Pradhan added.
