IIM Nagpur declares stage 1 admission shortlist; launches official website

Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Nagpur, has declared the Stage 1 admission criteria for its first Post Graduate Program (PGP) 2015 batch. The institute will function under the guidance and mentorship of IIM Ahmedabad.

The institute has declared shortlisted PGP candidates (stage 1) from a pool of applicants who had applied for IIM Maharashtra during CAT 2014 registration. These shortlisted candidates will now have to submit ‘Confirmation of Interest’ by May 31, 2015, basis on which the final admission results will be declared.

Criteria for final selection of shortlisted candidates is yet to be announced.

In general category, candidates with 96.3 percentile in general category have been shortlisted.

According to an official notification on the website, “During the week of May 18-22, 2015, the CAT-2014 candidates who had applied to PGP at the proposed ‘IIM In Maharashtra’ at the time of CAT registration and meet IIM Nagpur's admission criteria, can expect to receive a communication on their e-mail address provided during CAT 2014 registration. To ensure that the candidates do not miss out this important e-mail communication, they are advised to add the domain "iimnagpur.ac.in" 

The notice also added, “Please note that eligible candidates who do not reconfirm their interest in admission to IIM Nagpur by May 31, 2015, shall be excluded from being considered for admission to IIM Nagpur for the 2015-17 batch.”

 

Campus & Facilities

IIM Nagpur will temporarily function from the campus of VNIT, Nagpur, till it moves to its own campus (of approx 200 acres) in three years.

According to the official website, PGP students will be given furnished single-seater accommodation. IIM Nagpur hostel is a few hundred metres away from study campus.

The campus will be fully WiFi enabled. However, students will be expected to carry their own laptop and a basic smartphone.

 

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees for IIM Nagpur is around Rs 10 lakhs for two years. The exact amount and breakup details will be provided in the candidate’s admission offer. Candidates have to pay up to Rs 50,000 at the time of admission. The amount will be balanced the tuition fees.

 

 

First New IIM

IIM Nagpur is the first of the proposed eight new IIMs to declare admission shortlist. Currently, 13 IIMs are functioning. With IIM Nagpur initiating admission process, seven more IIMs are yet to start functioning.

The six institutes are expected to offer about 300 seats initially.
