The Jagdish Sheth School of Management (JAGSoM) has announced the appointment of Dr Venkatesh Sunkad as its new Director, effective December 15, 2024. Dr Sunkad is a renowned academic and industry leader, with a distinguished track record of driving advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), data science, the Internet of Things (IoT), and applied research.

Dr Venkatesh Sunkad’s extensive experience in both academia and industry makes him ideally suited to lead JAGSoM. He has held leadership roles in global multinational corporations and prestigious academic institutions, driving cutting-edge advancements in AI, 5G innovation, and cloud-based solutions.

Before joining JAGSoM, Dr Sunkad served as a Professor and Dean of Academic and International Relations at upGrad INSOFE, where he co-developed global programs for engineers and senior management professionals. He has worked closely with Fortune 500 companies, building bridges between academic theory and industry practice.

Track Record of Success in Global Leadership

Dr Sunkad brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the AI, IoT, and telecom industries. His career includes impactful contributions at global organizations such as Vodafone India, Mobileum India, Viasat USA, CableLabs USA, and ADC Mobile Systems USA.

Internationally renowned for his applied research and innovation, Dr Sunkad’s leadership will further strengthen JAGSoM’s reputation, particularly in securing and enhancing its AACSB accreditation and improving its standing in QS Global Rankings.

Dr Sunkad holds a Master’s degree from the University of Texas, a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, and an Executive MBA from the University of Denver. His career has been decorated with numerous accolades, including being named one of the "Top 50 Cable Technologists in the USA" by Cable Today magazine and receiving the Distinguished Professor Award by AIM magazine.
