KSOU has received the approval to offer the total intake of 10,000 seats per year for MBA programme.
All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has approved the MBA course offered by the city-based Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). The Council has approved the total intake of 10,000 seats per year. Talking about the approval received by AICTE, KSOU VC S Vidyashankar said, "This will help our students in a big way. As AICTE is a professional body, the MBA offered by the KSOU will receive greater recognition including in foreign countries.”
Earlier, the University Grants Commission (UGC) was approached by the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to give permission to launch online courses. KSOU is the only open state-run Open University that is all set to foray into online education.
KSOU VC told, "In the initial phase, we hope to launch 11 courses like MA in Hindi, MBA, BSc (IT), BCA in the online mode. As per the UGC regulations, only the courses offered in the distance mode can be offered via online mode also." Meanwhile, KSOU received good response from students to January cycle admission for several courses. Around 8,500 candidates applied for various courses in the January cycle.
KSOU is already running 30-plus courses. The programmes awaiting UGC approval include BSc., Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA); Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA); Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSc IT); Bachelor of Science in Human Development (BSc Human Development); MA in Education; MA in Telugu; Master of Science in Information Technology (MSc IT); Master of Science in Botany (MSc Botany); Master of Science in Zoology (MSc Zoology), and Master of Science in Food Science and Nutrition.
