With this strategic partnership between IIM Vizag and NIT Jamshedpur, Starting in the 2024 academic session, students in their third and fourth semesters of B.Tech will be eligible to enroll in the MBA program. The program will be offered in a hybrid mode, combining both online and offline learning.

NIT Jamshedpur MBA Admission 2025: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur has announced a groundbreaking opportunity for its students to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree alongside their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech). This innovative step comes as part of a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NIT Jamshedpur and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam.

Dual Degree Program to Begin in the Upcoming Academic Session

Starting in the 2024 academic session, students in their third and fourth semesters of B.Tech will be eligible to enroll in the MBA program. The program will be offered in a hybrid mode, combining both online and offline learning. This structure aims to provide flexibility to students, allowing them to simultaneously pursue two degrees and enhance their qualifications.

Academic Dean, CH Madhusudan, remarked, “This initiative enables students to earn both a B.Tech and an MBA simultaneously, which will undoubtedly provide them with a competitive edge in the job market.”

Enhancing Career Prospects with Dual Expertise

With the increasing demand for management skills within the engineering sector, NIT Jamshedpur has crafted the MBA syllabus to focus on essential skills such as data analytics, machine learning, and finance. Dean Madhusudan highlighted that, “Engineering students pursuing management courses gain dual benefits—enhanced technical expertise combined with crucial business acumen. This program is a direct response to industry needs for professionals who are adept both in engineering and management.”

The final syllabus has been completed, and faculty nominations have been made. However, the program is awaiting final approval from the Academic Council and the Board of Governance before its official launch.

NIT Jamshedpur offers BTech, MCA, PhD, MTech, and MSc courses. NIT Jamshedpur has 11 departments that offer various UG, PG, and PhD courses across Engineering, Science, and Humanities streams. Given below is the list of a few popular courses offered at NIT Jamshedpur along with their minimum eligibility and selection criteria:

NIT Jamshedpur BTech admission is completely entrance-based and depends on candidates' performance in the JEE Mains exam.

Eligibility: Class 12 with a minimum 75% aggregate

Selection Criteria: JEE Main + JoSAA/CSAB Counselling

The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur offers a two-year full-time MTech course at the postgraduate level.

Eligibility: BE/BTech in relevant subjects with a minimum 60% aggregate

Selection Criteria: GATE + CCMT Counselling

While the initial MBA program will be conducted in collaboration with IIM Visakhapatnam, NIT Jamshedpur has plans to expand this initiative in the future. The institute envisions establishing a full-fledged management department in the coming years, further enhancing its academic offerings.

The hybrid mode of delivery is seen as a strategic move to allow students to balance their technical education with management expertise, a combination that promises to make them more versatile and employable.

Fee Reduction for MTech Professional Course

In a separate but significant move, NIT Jamshedpur has introduced a professional MTech course aimed at working professionals in fields such as metallurgy, mechanical, civil, and production engineering. Currently, the course fee stands at INR 75,000 per semester, but in response to requests from several companies, the institute is considering a fee reduction of INR 20,000 to INR 25,000 to make the program more accessible to professionals.

Evening classes have been arranged to accommodate the schedules of working individuals, further emphasizing NIT Jamshedpur's commitment to providing flexible learning opportunities for those looking to advance their careers while continuing in their current roles.

While the initial MBA program will be conducted in collaboration with IIM Visakhapatnam, NIT Jamshedpur has plans to expand this initiative in the future. The institute envisions establishing a full-fledged management department in the coming years, further enhancing its academic offerings.
