NMIMS Updates MBA Selection Critreria; NMAT Gets 20% Weightage, while competency assessment will account to 50% weightage

Earlier today, SVKM's NMIMS announced the NMAT cutoffs and PI shortlist calls for MBA admissions. Typically, the MBA program at the NMIMS Mumbai campus encounters a higher cutoff than other campuses. However, this year, the institute has set a common cutoff for MBA programs across all campuses. The MBA in Pharma Management has a different cutoff compared to other MBA programs.

Candidates who have been shortlisted can proceed to book slots for the PI and competency assessment by filling a form until January 21. Shortlisted candidates are required to pay INR 1,100 for the selection rounds. As per the NMIMS call letter, the entire selection procedure will take approximately five hours. Candidates need to plan their slots accordingly.

NMIMS has four slots on each day of the selection round, with two morning slots, starting 8 AM and 10 AM. Two afternoon slots are also available, starting 12 Noon and 2 PM.

Changes in NMIMS MBA Selection Criteria

A major setback for all the NMAT test takers who had been aiming NMIMS Mumbai is the reduction in the cutoffs. Typically, NMIMS Mumbai had a cutoff more than 232. Whereas other campuses and programs had a cutoffs between 208 and 226.

This years selection procedure has given more importance to the competency assessment than NMAT scores. NMAT scores got a weightage of 20 per cent this year, which was 60 per cent in the previous admission session. Newly introduced competency assessment has a weightage of 50 per cent. No WATSON, and WAT tests will be conducted this year.

Until the previous year’s admission sessions, candidates came to know about the weightage of different components of the selection criteria, such as NMAT score, PI, work experience, academic record, etc. on the day of the selection round. However, this year, NMIMS has mentioned the weightage of all these parameters in the call letters issued on the NMIMS dashboard.

The table below mentions the weightage of different parameters for NMIMS MBA admissions 2025:

The post-NMAT dates released earlier had different dates for the PI and selection rounds for MBA/MBA HR at the Mumbai campus compared to other programs and campuses. However, now the PI and selection process for all MBA courses, except Pharma Management, will follow a common timeline starting from January 30. The PI and competency assessment for MBA Pharma Management will be held on February 27 and 28.

What to Expect Further?

NMIMS may release a revised schedule mentioning the dates for merit list declaration and fee payment timeline. The call letters mention that a complete guide on the entire selection procedure will be published on January 25. Candidates can expect more details on the competency assessment and further timeline for the admission process with the entire selection procedure to be released on January 25.
