The Project Management Institute (PMI) hosted its 16th Project Management South Asia Conference in New Delhi, emphasizing the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the profession. A newly released research report, titled "Pushing the Limits: Transforming Project Management with GenAI Innovation," revealed that the adoption of Generative AI (GenAI) tools among project professionals has surged by 86% since January 2024. Currently, approximately 40% of surveyed professionals utilize GenAI in over half of their projects, underscoring the importance of upskilling and experimentation with this emerging technology.

Conference Theme and Initiatives

This year’s conference theme, "Master Your Future Today in Rapidly Emerging Trends & Economies," focused on equipping project professionals with actionable insights and best practices for success in an AI-driven landscape. PMI is at the forefront of this transformation, recently announcing two significant initiatives:

  1. The acquisition of Cognilytica, integrating its certifications and learning products into PMI's offerings.
  2. Enhanced features for PMI Infinity™, its AI assistant for project managers, now powered by GPT-4o (omni). The updates include document generation capabilities and custom templates to improve efficiency and productivity.

Launch of PMI Construction Professional Certification

The conference also marked the introduction of the PMI Construction Professional certification (PMI-CP)™ for industry professionals in South Asia. This certification aims to prepare construction project managers to effectively lead and manage projects within the dynamic infrastructure sector.
