Lauding the budget allocation 2025, Professor Himanshu Rai, Director, IIM Indore said, “The Union Budget 2025-26 is the making of an India F.I.T. – Future-ready, Innovative, and Tech-driven. More than a finance roadmap, this is a vision for a resilient and progressive economy.
Taxpayers breathe easy with a higher exemption slab, which would mean more disposable income and greater consumer spending. But beyond the tax cuts lies the real thrust: future-ready India, one that works on digital innovation, robust infrastructure, and inclusive growth. Investments in AI, semiconductors, and digital skilling will prepare the youth for the jobs of tomorrow, while MSME support and startup funding will fuel entrepreneurship.
Infrastructure is a backbone, with the thrust on better logistics, urban transformation, and high-speed connectivity for seamless economic integration. Sustainability is also to the fore, with clean energy, EV incentives, and green hydrogen initiatives ensuring that India's growth is always aligned with environmental responsibility. Ultimately, it is a F.I.T. India, full of financial stability, innovation, and technology-driven development.”
A Modest but Necessary Increase: Professor Prateek Bedi’s Concern
Professor Prateek Bedi, Assistant Professor of Finance and Accounting at IMI New Delhi, while acknowledging the budget’s positive direction, expressed concerns about the modest increase in funding for higher education. Professor Bedi also stressed the importance of strengthening collaborations between industry and academia to create meaningful employment opportunities for graduates.
A Mixed Yet Optimistic Outlook
While reactions to the Union Budget 2025 remain mixed, experts from various management institutions agree that the government’s focus on education, skill development, and entrepreneurship will significantly benefit India’s future workforce. The total allocation for school education increased from ₹73,008 crore in 2024-25 to ₹78,572.10 crore in 2025-26, marking a rise of ₹5,564.10 crore, while higher education saw a modest increase from ₹47,619 crore to ₹50,077.95 crores, an uptick of ₹2,458.95 crore.
