MCC notifies SC hearing on case related to NEET UG Counselling 2021 is on January 6, 2022
Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released a notification stating that the case related to NEET UG Counselling 2021 is pending in Supreme Court and the next hearing is on January 6, 2022.
The results for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2021 was declared on November 1 but Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and AYUSH Admissions Central Counseling Committee (AACCC) are still to make an announcement related to NEET UG Counselling 2021 schedule.
Now, MCC has notified the aspirants seeking admission to various undergraduate medical courses through NEET UG Counselling 2021 that a case related to the NEET UG Counselling 2021 is pending in Supreme Court and the next hearing on this matter is on January 6, 2022.
MCC official notice reads, "All candidates desiring to participate in NEET-UG, 2021 Counselling are hereby informed that the Office Memorandum No. C.18018/18/2015- ME-II dated 30.07.2021 (Copy enclosed) is under challenge in W.P(C) No. 961 of 2021 before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. Vide order dated 25.11.2021 in this matter, the hearing of the proceedings shall be listed on 6 January 2022”.
On January 6, 2022, the Supreme Court of India will hear the matter related to Other Backward Class (OBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation in AIQ (All India Quota) for NEET Counselling.
NEET PG Counselling 2021 is also on hold due to one pending case in Supreme Court related to EWS criteria. The Centre has asked Supreme Court four weeks time to revisit INR 8 lakh annual income criteria for determining the EWS category in NEET Counselling. The Centre also assured Supreme Court that it will not conduct NEET PG Counselling 2021 before taking a final decision on the EWS criteria.
