AIIMS Delhi launches Mission Recruitment to fill vacant positions

AIIMS Delhi has introduced Mission Recruitment to fill the vacant positions and the target is to achieve zero vacancies by September 2023. A committee comprising Dr V K Paul, Member (Health) NITI Aayog; Additional Secretary, PMSSY, Ministry of Health; and Director, AIIMS, New Delhi is also in the process to introduce central recruitment at all AIIMS. 

All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) Delhi has announced the launch of Mission Recruitment.

AIIMS Delhi tweet reads, "AIIMS, New Delhi launches #Mission Recruitment to increase the coordination between examination section, recruitment cell and faculty cell and fill the existing and new vacancies. AIIMS targets to achieve zero vacancies by September 2023."

While the Central and state governments are opening new medical colleges under a Central scheme, the health ministry data revealed last year that in 18 of the newly built AIIMS, 50% of sanctioned posts are vacant. 

In AIIMS Rajkot, only 40 of the 183 sanctioned posts have been filled. At AIIMS Gorakhpur, 105 of the 183 sanctioned posts remain vacant. Other such institutions with vacant positions include AIIMS Vijaypur —107 of 183 sanctioned posts are vacant — AIIMS Raebareli — 101 of 183 sanctioned posts are vacant — AIIMS Guwahati — 104 of the 183 sanctioned posts are vacant — and AIIMS Patna — 151 of the 183 sanctioned posts are vacant, as said by the health ministry in written response to a Parliament question on December 9, 2022.

To fill the vacant positions at all AIIMS, the Centre is planning to introduce centralised recruitment for faculty and non-faculty hiring at various AIIMS across India and to address the shortage of personnel at these AIIMS. A committee is already established for this by the union health ministry which comprises members including Dr V K Paul, Member (Health) NITI Aayog; Additional Secretary, PMSSY, Ministry of Health; and Director, AIIMS, New Delhi.
