AIIMS Guwahati offers Basic Pediatric Intensive Care Course

AIIMS Guwahati is offering a Basic Pediatric Intensive Care Course from August 12, and August 13, 2023.

Department of Pediatrics, AIIMS Guwahati in association with IAP Guwahati City Branch under the aegis of College of Pediatric Critical Care and IAP Intensive Care Chapter is organizing Basic Pediatric Intensive Care Course (BPICC) program from August 12 to August 13, 2023 (Saturday and Sunday) at AIIMS Guwahati. 

This course is designed to comprehensively cover all aspects of the management of a critically sick child and is delivered by lectures followed by skill stations.

The skill-based program is designed to cater to the needs of practicing Pediatricians, Intensivists, as well as the Fellows and Resident doctors providing healthcare for the pediatric population requiring emergent and ICU care.

The course has been designed to update the delegates about the recent advances in Pediatric Intensive Care and how they can apply this knowledge into their day-to-day practice. This course comprises of didactic lectures and skill stations. Some of the salient contents of this course are how to recognize a sick child in the emergency room, how to manage a child with neurologic injury, principles of analgesia and sedation in PICU, antibiotics management in PICU, PICU procedures, how to set up a ventilator, shock and its management, fluid therapy and electrolyte abnormalities, blood component therapy in PICU, transport of sick children and many more.

The course is recommended for paediatricians interested in Pediatric Emergencies and Intensive care. Candidates who are PALS certified will benefit more as this course offers the next level of skill once patient is admitted to the PICU.

Certificate of competence will be issued to successful candidates based on individual performance over the two days.
