AIJNSA demands Fee Regulating Committee for private medical colleges, NEET UG twice a year
AIJNSA has urged setting up a Regulating Committee for fair fees in private medical colleges and also considering NEET-UG twice a year for fair chances to deserving candidates.
All India JEE NEET Students Association (AIJNSA) has written to National Medical Commission to urge the establishment of a Fee Regulating Committee for private medical colleges. The association has also requested to consider taking NEET UG twice a year.
AISJNSA tweeted, "High fees hinder education access. We urge a Fee Regulating Committee for fair fees in private medical colleges. Also, consider NEET-UG twice a year for a fair chance to deserving candidates."
The letter highlighted that the exorbitant fees charged by the private medical colleges in India are considerably higher than those in other developed nations. The huge financial burden is a major obstacle for aspiring medical students and their families.
AIJNSA said that establishing a Fee Regulating Committee under the guidance of the National Medical Commission is necessary to regulate and control the fees charged by private medical colleges. The committee can play a crucial role in ensuring transparency, affordability and accountability in the medical education sector, ultimately benefiting the students and the nation as a whole, added the letter.
The students' association has also proposed that the NEET UG examination should be conducted by all premium government medical colleges including AIIMS, JIPMER, CMC Vellore, aFMC, and other such esteemed institutions.
"By involving these institutions in the administration of NEET UG, we believe that the examination process will be streamlined, and credibility and fairness of the examination will be enhanced," reads the AIJNSA letter.
The association has once again requested NMC to conduct the NEET UG examination more than once a year.
