Anti-NEET bill will be sent for Presidential assent: TN Governor assures CM MK Stalin
Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has assured Chief Minister MK Stalin that the anti-NEET bill would be forwarded to the Centre for Presidential assent.
After returning the anti-NEET bill to the Tamil Nadu government earlier, now Governor RN Ravi has assured Chief Minister MK Stalin that he will forward the bill to the Centre for Presidential assent.
Chief Minister reportedly called on the Governor at the Raj Bhavan and urged him to expeditiously send the bill to the President to exempt the state from the purview of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Earlier on September 13, 2021, the previous anti-NEET bill was passed by the DMK regime which was returned back by the Governor in 142 days.
On February 8, the state government had adopted the anti-NEET bill once again and sent it to Raj Bhavan for getting Presidential assent.
In his meeting with the Governor, Chief Minister said that as the admission to medical colleges for the year 2022-23 academic year is set to start, the anti-NEET bill should be immediately sent to the Centre.
CM Stalin urges Governor Ravi for action on other bills passed by Assembly
Apart from the anti-NEET bill, Chief Minister Stalin also urged the Governor to take immediate action on other bills passed by the Assembly and other files, all pending for many months.
Swift action on such matters that awaited his nod would guard the Assembly's dignity and respect the sentiments of the Tamil Nadu people, said CM Stalin, as reported by NDTV.
At the end of the meeting, Governor Ravi has assured Chief Minister Stalin that the anti-NEET Bill would be forwarded to President Ram Nath Kovind for obtaining his nod.
