Chief Secretary M Ravi Chandra issued an order for 3,530 posts for five new medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh cabinet had recently given approval for 3,530 posts for five new medical colleges in Nandyal, Machilipatnam, Eluru, Rajamahendravaram and Vizianagaram which are all set to start from next academic year (2023-24). 

As per the National Medical Council (NMC) norms, 222 posts are allotted to each medical college and 484 posts to the affiliated teaching hospital. Accordingly, the Cabinet has decided on 3,530 posts at the rate of 706 posts for each medical college.

Andhra government is setting up 16 new medical colleges at a total cost of INR 7,850 crore. These new colleges will be established at Piduguralla, Machilipatnam, Anakapalle, Vizianagaram, Rajahmundry, Palakollu, Amalapuram, Markapuram, Penukonda, Madanapally, Adoni, Nandyala, Pulivendula, Paderu, Eluru and Bapatla.

The government has initiated measures to fill more than 40,000 posts in government hospitals. The government is also spending INR 146 crore on the construction of a pre-engineered building in one lakh square feet, as reported by Indian Express. 

Jagan govt to revamp healthcare system

Principal Secretary to government Muddada Ravi Chandra has issued an order which states that under Nadu-Nedu, the program enlists holistic revamping of the health care infrastructure including strengthening and upgrading primary and secondary health centres besides existing medical colleges and associated hospitals, as reported by News Meter.

Director of Medical Education, Vijayawada has submitted a proposal for the creation of 222 posts of various categories at GMC, Eluru for the academic year 2023-24.
