CBI finds major scam in NEET UG 2021
CBI has unearthed a major scam in NEET UG 2021 involving an attempt to use proxies to clear the medical entrance exam.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has found a major scandal of NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) 2021 that involved the attempt to use proxies to clear the test instead of the real candidates at the payment of Rs 50 lakh per candidate.
Those who have been charged in the NEET scam are RK Education Career Guidance, a Maharashtra-based coaching centre, its Director Parimal Kotpalliwar and several students. The parents of the medical candidates were reportedly asked to deposit the original mark sheets of the candidates for Class 10 and Class 12 as security along with the post-dated cheques. The coaching centre said that it will return the documents after the release of the Rs 50 lakh.
CBI's FIR, as reported by NDTV, stated, "Information revealed that Parimal Kotpalliwar solicits the aspiring candidates by offering them admission in top government medical colleges by adopting fraudulent means and unfair practices. The parents of prospective candidates have been contacted and are being assured of admission in medical colleges by manipulating the process of examination being conducted by NEET by using proxy candidates."
CBI also revealed in the FIR that the accused Parimal and his associates also collected user IDs and passwords of the candidates and made necessary modifications for getting desired examination centres.
The FIR further added, "They also use the process of mixing/morphing photographs to facilitate use of proxy candidates for appearing in the examination. Copies of e-Aadhaar card of candidates were being collected for the purpose of making forged ID cards. Parimal also assured candidates of providing answer keys and manipulating OMR sheets."
Reportedly, five proxy candidates were set up for the NEET 2021 medical entrance exam which was conducted on September 12. However, as per the CBI, the agency officials waited at the centres to catch the proxy candidates red-handed but they didn't turn up, it seems the JEE case scared them.
CBI has conducted searches at multiple locations in connection with this scam and arrested four people.
