Central government granted 265 DNB post-graduate medical seats across 20 district government hospitals in Jammu & Kashmir.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has granted 265 DNB post-graduate medical seats across 20 district government hospitals in J&K.

Mansukh Mandaviya's tweet reads, "Heralding a new era of medical education in Jammu & Kashmir! PM @NarendraModi Ji's Govt has granted 265 DNB Post-Graduate medical seats across 20 district Govt hospitals in J&K. I appreciate Team NBE for accomplishing this tremendous work."

"This is an important effort aimed at empowering the youth and furthering medical infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir!," replied PM Modi on the health minister's tweet.

"50% of DNB PG seats are reserved for local in-service doctors. The doctors of J&K are getting an opportunity of being trained in their own region. This was Phase 1 of the expansion of medical education & quality medical care services. In Phase 2, more PG seats will be granted," added Mansukh Mandaviya.

4 medical seats under Centre quota reserved for J&K terror victims

Centre has reserved four medical seats in government-run colleges across the country for children of J&K terror victims. The reservations are made in the MBBS and BDS courses from the academic year 2022-23. 

As per JKBOPEE notification, one seat is reserved in Nalanda Medical College, Patna, Bihar for Children of families where a parent or direct member of the family has been killed in acts of terrorism or has been an innocent victim in cross-firing or in firing by armed forces in combating terrorism. One seat is reserved in Government Medical College, Chandigarh for Children of such persons who are exposed to substantive risk due to their assignment mainly related to combating acts of terrorism, added weightage is to be given to the persons who have come in the hit list of terrorist organizations.

One seat is reserved in Lady Hardinge Medical College, New Delhi for children of such families of both Muslims and Non-Muslims who have migrated from Kashmir due to the current situation and have lost their means of livelihood including their business or use of their property and one seat is reserved in SMS Medical College, Jaipur.
