Government Medical College Jammu witnessed a clash over the controversial movie ‘The Kerala Story’ and reportedly one student was attacked with an iron rod.

Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor, J&K Student Association, tweeted, "Hv received distressing calls from GMC Jammu, reporting that a group of Kashmiri students have been injured as a result of a recent altercation over the Kerala Story issue. 1 student was attacked with an iron rod & sustained head injuries with 12 stitches."

"I strongly urge @OfficeOfLGJandK to intervene & take immediate action to address the situation. Rqsting to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident & take appropriate measures to ensure the safety & security of all students," he said in another tweet.

It is critical that we work together to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future & to foster an environment of peace & tolerance on campus, he added.

The students of the GMC alleged that members of a right-wing group were brought into the hostel from outside, who shouted religious slogans and attacked one of the students with a sharp-edged object, injuring him in the head. Two more students also sustained injuries in the assault, as reported by Tribune India.

The incident occurred late Sunday night when a student shared a link to the movie with the official group of first-year students, which was objected to by one of his batchmates, stating that the group is meant for academic purposes only.
