Construction of first medical college in Nilgiris to begin soon, says Tamil Nadu Minister
The Centre had sanctioned six medical colleges for the state. One of them will be build up in Nilgiris at a cost of Rs 350 crore.
The work for the construction of the first medical college in the hilly Nilgiris district will begin soon, said Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani recently. The cost of establishing the college at the tourist town is Rs 350 crore.
The Centre had sanctioned six medical colleges for the state of Tamil Nadu. As the building of now-defunct Hindustan Photo Films is in good condition, the college will come up there. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2020.
Velumani, who distributed welfare schemes to the tune of Rs 16.45 crore, said the government will sanction 100 green-houses to people affected by the recent rains.
Further, the request by the district administration to construct two bridges that were washed away in the floods recently will be taken to the Chief Minister for approval. The cost of rebuilding the bridges is Rs 10 crore.
