Covid-19 scare: Calcutta Medical College and Hospital exam gets cancelled
In the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak in Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, the students didn't turn up for the exam which was to be held today (June 27) and eventually the exam got canceled.
As per reports, currently, as many as 14 students of Calcutta Medical College and Hospital are infected with the Covid-19. Today, there was an examination in the college where examiners were present with the question papers but the medical students did not come to take the examination.
After waiting for half an hour, the exam was canceled as of today, as reported by Zee News.
The students are reportedly demanding that either the examination should get postponed or must be conducted online.
Tomorrow will be the MBBS third semester examination. The college has made separate arrangements for the infected students, they will appear for examination in separate rooms and the rest of the students will be allowed to enter the examination hall after the rapid antigen test.
Covid cases go up in WB
Since, a few days, the state has witnessed an increase in cases. On Saturday, the Covid-19 tally in the state rose to 20,24,479 with 235 more people testing positive for the infection, while two fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 21,216, said a health bulletin.
Amid the increased cases, the state Health Department has alerted all medical colleges and hospitals and asked them to strictly follow Covid protocols.
After four hostel residents at Calcutta Medical College were tested positive for Covid-19, the health department issued guidelines and stated that these four students were admitted to Beleghata ID Hospital, as reported by Indian Express.
While the cases are increasing, the state-run and state-aided schools have reopened today after an extended summer vacation.
