COVID-19 Surge: AIIMS postpones supplementary exams, practical tests
AIIMS has postponed the dates for theory, practical, viva-voice and clinical papers considering the ongoing pandemic situation and rising novel coronavirus cases.
AIIMS MBBS Exams 2021 Postponed! All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has postponed the undergraduate supplementary exams for MBBS second and final-year students. According to the reports, these exams were scheduled by AIIMS for the month of May 2021. However, considering the ongoing pandemic situation and rising novel coronavirus cases, the medical institute has now deferred the UG supply exams for MBBS second and final-year students. AIIMS has postponed the dates for theory, practical, viva-voice and clinical papers.
Informing the students about the postponement of the exams, the Institute said in a notification, “In view of the evolving situation related to COVID-19 outbreak and decision of the competent authority in this regard, following supplementary examinations are deferred till further notice”. It further added that, “Dates of practical, clinical, viva-voce exams of above scheduled in May 2021 stands deferred and same will be decided by the competent authority at a later stage and will be announced in due course of time”.
Students must note that the examination authority will be releasing the revised time table for May 2021 exams on its website www.aiimsexams.ac.in. MBBS exams were to take place in the months of May and June at the internal examination centres of AIIMS.
Meanwhile, Private medical colleges in Kerala along with the UG students have written a letter to the Governor of the State, Arif Mohammed Khan expressing concerns over the postponement of the examination resulting in hampering the future prospects of the MBBS students. They have also requested the Governor not to postpone the UG medical examinations as delaying the examinations would lead to an acute shortage of house surgeons in the State amidst the second wave of the Pandemic.
