Delhi HC orders to suspend GST on DNB fee, FORDA welcomes the move

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has suspended the GST on Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses based on a Delhi High Court order.

Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has welcomed the move that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has suspended the GST on Diplomate of National Board (DNB) courses based on a Delhi High Court order.

FORDA tweeted, "Hon'ble High court suspends GST on DNB fee FORDA welcomes the move and hopes this burden on academic students is removed permanently. @GST_Council, @NBEMS_INDIA, @MoHFW_INDIA"

NBEMS notice to suspend GST on DNB fee

The official notice reads, "NBEMS trainees undergoing training for various Broad Speciality (DNB), Super Specialty (DrNB), Fellowship Courses (FNB) and Post MBBS Diploma courses are paying their annual course fee, for each year, directly to NBEMS as per public notices cited above." 

"The Hon'ble High Court of Delhi vide its order dated July 12, 2022, in Writ Petition (C) No. 10326/2021 has been pleased to stay the operation of the public notices dated January 15, 2021, February 15, 2021, and August 19, 2021, to the extent they levy GST on NBEMS trainees. In compliance with the aforesaid order dated July 12, 2022, passed by the Delhi High Court, GST charged by NBEMS on annual course is suspended/adjourned till the final outcome of the court," added the official notice.
