Doctor urges govt to clear air on NeXT at least six to eight months before exam
While National Exit Test (NeXT) exam is expected to start in 2023, the National President and founding member of FAIMA India urged the government to clear the air on the exam.
The National Board of Examination (NBE) is expected to conduct National Exit Test (NeXT) exam from next year for the final year of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students. The National President and founding member of Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), Dr Rohan Krishnan has urged the NBE, health ministry and National Medical Commission (NMC) to announce details regarding the examination at least six to eight months before conducting the exam.
His tweet reads, "Well i request @NBEMS_INDIA @MoHFW_INDIA @NMC_IND to clear the air about NEET/ NEXT Atleast 6-8 months before exams with detailed syllabus. Any last minute abrupt changes will not be accepted and we will do a Nation wise protest if apt time , detailed syllabus is nt maintained."
About NeXT Exam
The online examination is expected to replace the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) PG and serve as an entrance test for admission to PG medical degree programs. It will also be mandatory to get practising licences in India.
Reportedly, a mock test will be conducted first before implementing the NeXT examination and it is most likely to be conducted by NBE but can also be conducted by a third party. NeXT is also going to be applicable to institutes of national importance such as the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences.
