Dr Rohan Krishnan, Chairman of FAIMA, has said that the NExT will give an undue advantage to a few students. He also talked about the bond policy for MBBS students.

"Nursing Council is completely against any Bond for Nursing graduates & consider it unethical. Then y different behaviour for MBBS graduates. We are completely Against bond for MBBS. We r also not in favour of NEXT which gives undue advantage to few tudents!!@MoHFW_INDIA," reads his tweet.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also recently opposed the upcoming NExT exam and said that it will be an additional burden on medical students.

“This step seems to be just another attempt to dilute the role of State Governments and Universities in the health sector and to centralise the powers with the Union Government,” he said.

NExT exam will be held in two steps, Step 1 and Step 2. According to an official release, Step 1 will be a theory-based exam while Step 2 will check the practical knowledge of candidates seeking admission in post-graduate medical courses. NExT exam is expected to be held by National Medical Commission (NMC). It will be a single gateway to getting a license and practising medicine in India. It will be replacing existing NEET PG and FMGE exams from 2024 onwards.

There is no official announcement on the date of the NExT exam but it is expected to be out soon by NMC.
