'Final Decision Does Not Mean Approval', NMC Clarifies Regarding New Medical College List

NMC has announced that the notice dated July 6, 2024, regarding communication of the final decision of 113 applications does not mean approval of all applications. The decision may be either approval or disapproval and the final decision will be uploaded on the NMC portal in due course.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released a notification regarding the final decision of MARB, NMC concerning the establishment of new UG medical colleges for the academic year 2024-25. On July 6, 2024, NMC released a notification highlighting the final decision of MARB in respect of 113 applications and its communication through e-mail IDs to the medical institutions/colleges to take the necessary action within the stipulated timeline. The notification contained the name of the college, their application ID and the Name of the new programme applied for. 

"In continuation of MARB’s Public Notice dated the 3rd April 2024, with reference to the applications received for the establishment of New UG Medical Colleges for Academic Year: 2024-25, it is informed that final decisions of MARB in respect of 113 applications have been communicated through e-mail IDs (as mentioned in online applications) to the Medical Institutions/Colleges concerned for information and necessary action by them within the stipulated timeline. A list containing the application number of each of the aforesaid 113 applications is attached with this public notice for general information." Reads the official notification. 

Final Decision Does Not Mean Approval

At the latest turn of events, the National Medical Commission has notified that the final decision does not mean approval in respect of all the 113 applications. The authorities are yet to decide the approval or disapproval. This signifies that institutions that do not take necessary actions within the stipulated timeline may not get approval for the new medical college for the academic year 2024-25.  

"It is clarified that the NMC in its Public Notice dated July 6, 2024, has published only the list of applications against which the final decisions have been taken by the MARB. The final decision does not mean approval in respect of all 113 applications. The decision may be either approved or disapproved. Such decisions have already been communicated to the medical institutions concerned. The decisions will be uploaded on the website of NMC in due course." The notification, dated July 8, 2024, reads. 

NMC further notified that in order to achieve complete transparency, NMC will continue issuing 'Public Notice' and clarification from time to time on the NMC official website to protect the interest of stakeholders and the general public.
