FMGE 2024: Exam Pattern Revised; Application Fee Reduced to INR 6195, Check Other Details

NBEMS will conduct the FMGE June 2024 exam on July 6, 2024, for which the exam pattern has been revised. Students can check the FMGE 2024 exam pattern along with the revised application fee details here. 

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has released the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) 2024 notification on the official website. The authorities have started the application process for all eligible and interested students. Those who are willing to apply for the FMGE 2024 exam must carefully check the FMGE 2024 notification as there are some major changes in the exam pattern as mentioned by the authorities. 

FMGE 2024 Revised Exam Pattern

As per the FMGE 2024 revised exam pattern, there will be multiple time-bound sections with compulsory 50 questions and 50 minutes of time allotted. Students will not be able to review the questions or modify their responses in the FMGE 2024 exam. 

"The question paper for each part of FMGE will be divided into multiple time-bound sections. For example, if there are 3-time bound sections* (Section A, B & C) in each part of the question paper, each such section will have 50 questions and 50 minutes of time allotted for the section. Candidates would be restricted from proceeding to the next section till completion of the allotted time of the previous section and candidates would not be allowed to review the questions/modify the responses of a section after the completion of the allotted time of that section. Questions of the next section will start automatically after the completion of the allotted time of the previous section." The FMGE 2024 notification reads. 

Moreover, students showed their resentment over social media. 

Dr Mohshin Sarif wrote on X (Formerly Twitter) “FMGs are also Indian, they did MBBS only to serve India, or else they can settle abroad. However, the NMC and NBE keep making it more difficult to pass the FMGE exam every time.”

Whereas Dr Raunak, another user said “Such a horrendous rule #fmge there are 300 questions dividing into compulsory sections of 50 and not allow to recheck in end. If someone clicks a wrong answer in 1st part and gets a similar question in 3rd part and wants to modify the question? He can't and fails at 149 Score.”

FMGE 2024 Revised Application Fee

NBEMS has also revised the FMGE 2024 application fee from 6000 to 5250. Hence, foreign medical graduates will have to pay INR 6195 instead of 7080 (including GST) as a part of their application fee. 

Dr Vivek Pandey shared his thoughts on X stating "Filed multiple RTIs since 2020 uncovering NBE's excessive application form fees earning. In 2023 FMGE fees peaked at INR 7080. Due to sustained efforts & media news NBE has begun reducing fees. FMGE 2024 fees lowered to INR 6195.”
