FORDA delegation meets NMC officials over FMGs internship issue
After attending a meeting with NMC officials, the Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) said that a holistic solution is expected by next week regarding the Foreign Medical Graduates' (FMGs) internship issues. Most of the FMGs of India are waiting to get internship opportunities even after clearing the FMGE exam. The issue is recently highlighted by various doctors' associations and Delhi Medical Council.
The Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) delegation met the higher officials of the National Medical Commission over the issue of Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) internship and they are expecting a holistic solution soon.
"#FMG UPDATE- Productive meeting between FORDA delegation led by @draviralmathur & @DrPandeyRML and Higher NMC officials regarding #FMG internship issue. A holistic solution is expected next week, addressing all major concerns," reads FORDA's tweet.
Earlier, FMGs of Rajasthan united to protest against the acute shortage of internship opportunities for them in India. Later on, Delhi Medical Council also highlighted that despite NMC's claim that there are seats for FMGs in Delhi, the medical colleges and hospitals of Delhi are not ready to provide internship opportunities to the FMGs, especially premier medical institutes like All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Army College of Medical Sciences.
