FORDA writes to Maharashtra's health minister about academic irregularities at JJ Hospital

FORDA has urged the minister to intervene and thoroughly investigate the allegations of academic irregularities and mistreatment of resident doctors at the Sir JJ Hospital.

"Residents in Ophthalmology Dept. at @ggmcjjh are in distress! Academic irregularities, hostilities and sufferings can't be ignored for this long! Kindly address their plight, and ensure justice!," says FORDA's tweet.

The letter reads, "For far too long, the complaints regarding the Deptt of Ophthalmology have been disregarded, and all efforts to address these concerns have fallen on deaf ears. The plight of the resident doctors is reaching a critical stage, as they face immense difficulties and are on the verge of a mental breakdown. Such a distressing situation within one of Maharashtra's premier hospitals raises grave concerns about the quality of healthcare and the well-being of our medical professionals."

The association said that residents have been tirelessly fighting for their academic rights, which have a profound impact on their future careers.

"We strongly advocate for a prompt enquiry and possible transfer of the concerned individuals responsible for perpetuating this hostile environment, specifically, Dr TP Lahane and Dr Ragini Parekh, who have been accused of fostering a dictatorial regime," added the letter.

Earlier, Maharashtra State Association of Resident Doctors Central Mard has also written to the minister about the injustice, difficulties and unacademic environment that is rampant in the Department of Ophthalmology in the apex health institute of the state.
