Government Ayurvedic College Darbhanga's (GACD) patients get a unique OPD in medical astrology where patients will be treated as per their horoscope rather than the pulse and test report.

In first of its kind venture, Government Ayurvedic College Darbhanga (GACD) opened outpatient department (OPD) services in medical astrology. The OPD services would help people to treat various illnesses and the treatment will be given as per patients' horoscopes.

Medical astrology is an old age way of treating people which believed to help people live a healthy life, and as per this treatment methodology, each organ of the body is influenced by astrological elements.

The Times Bureau quoted Dr Dineshwar Prasad, GACD principal, "Medical astrology is a traditionally applied branch of astrology based on the relationship of different parts of the body, diseases, and drugs to the shape of the sun, moon, planets, and the twelve astrological signs. Herbs and other medicines are chosen for the treatment considering their astrological properties. In this system, sick people have advised the way of treatment with the help of their horoscope or palmistry."

"The principles of ‘Dinacharya’, ‘Ritucharya’ and ‘Panchkarma’, the essential components of Ayurveda, are all based on medical astrology," he added.

As per reports, a proposal to start a full-fledged medical astrology course has been submitted for review to the Aryabhatta Knowledge University.

Aryabhatta Knowledge University offers various undergraduate medical courses including MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), five-years BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery), BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), and five and a half years BUMS (Bachelor in Unani Medicine and Surgery) courses.
