Govt allocates INR 11 crore to GMC Jammu and Srinagar

To ensure proper utilization of the funds allocated to the Government Medical College Jammu and Srinagar, the Director of Finance at the Health & Medical Education Department will credit the funds into the Single Nodal Account (SNA) of the Scheme.

As per the report of Daily Excelsior, Phase 1 was initiated during the XI Plan period to enhance the capacity and quality of State/Central Government Medical Colleges to establish additional postgraduate (PG) seats. A total of 72 Government Medical Colleges in 21 States/Union Territories (UTs) were approved under this scheme, resulting in the creation of 4058 new PG seats.

The second phase intends to generate 4000 PG seats in government colleges nationwide. The funding pattern for this phase is structured as 90:10 by the Central and State Governments, respectively, for North Eastern States and Special Category States, and 60:40 for other states.

The main aim is to address the shortage of healthcare professionals in the medical sector and rectify the geographical imbalance in the distribution of trained medical personnel throughout the country.

J&K Health and Medical Education Department announces extension of study leaves for doctors

The state government has announced the grant of extension in study leave further by the period of one year in favour of the following doctors - Dr Tanveer Ahmad Rather, Medical Officer, undergoing study course in DNB Anesthesiology from GMC Anantnag, Dr Saif Ul Yamin, Medical Officer, studying PG Hospital Administration from SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar, Dr Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, Medical Officer, studying DNB Obst and Gynae from GMC Anantnag.
