Harish Rao directs authorities to expedite work of eight medical colleges

Going with the vision of at least one medical college in each district of Telangana, Health Minister T Harish Rao has asked authorities to speed up work for establishing eight medical colleges in the state.

The state government of Telangana is aiming to establish a minimum of one medical college in each thirty-three districts of the state. Health Minister T Harish Rao has said that the bigger objective is to improve the health care services in the rural areas of the state. In line with this aim, he has directed authorities to expedite works of establishing eight new medical colleges in Telangana and the multispeciality hospital in Warangal.

While reviewing the plans related to the eight medical colleges and multispecialty hospital in Warangal the Health Minster said to ensure quality health care services at the district level.

“The construction and planning of the medical colleges should be based on the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC). Ample space should be available within the campus of the upcoming medical colleges for future expansion. We must ensure the availability of quality infrastructure and amenities at these new medical colleges,” said Harish Rao, as quoted by Telangana Today. 

The eight medical colleges will be in Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Bhadadri-Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Sangareddy, Jagtial, Ramagundam and Mancherial.

As per reports, the application process for these medical colleges was completed in September, National Medical Commission (NMC)visit was expected by November end or December, and recruitment processes were going on in October.
