Haryana gives go-ahead for construction of Panchkula medical college in Sec 32

Haryana's Speaker Gian Chand Gupta has given approval for the construction of a Panchkula medical college in sector 32. In a high-level meeting chaired by him, the decision is taken that initially classes would be held at the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare in sector 6. When the construction of the college will be completed in Sector 32 adjacent to Ghaggar, the college would be shifted to Sector 32.

He also added that the government is preparing to commence MBBS classes soon. The medical college will bring new development opportunities and also will reduce medical services' burden on the PGI, the GMCH-32 and the GMSH-16 in Chandigarh.

As per the report of Tribune India, the Haryana Urban Development Authority has already identified 30.20 acres for the project, and the land will soon be handed over to the Medical Education Department. STP will send a report to the Chief Town Planner and the file will then be sent to the Chief Administrator of the HSVP for final approval.

In February, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that as many as seven new medical colleges have been established during the current regime of the past eight years while work is underway for eight more medical colleges in the state.
