Chhattisgarh Health Department has issued a warning to PG medical students that if they will not be present in the 2-year rural service, their registration may be cancelled. Read here for more details.
The Directorate of Chhattisgarh has issued a notice regarding the presence of PG students at the designated rural service.
The notification said that following the order on PG students regarding the presence of contracted students at work for 2 years of compulsory rural service as per the contract, if the contractual students will not show their presence in the designated posting to date or are currently absent, an application is being submitted to this Directorate to present their presence in the designated posting place.
If the contracted students remain absent for more than 1 month for the preparation of the NEET PG exam and if such a thing is repeated in future, then the entire amount of the bond will be charged against the contracted student doctors for not complying with the postgraduate/undergraduate admission rules. Along with the recovery of land revenue as an outstanding amount, the process of cancelling the registration from the Medical Council will be taken as per rules, said the notification.
"As per the postgraduate/undergraduate admission rules, it is mandatory for the students to do 2 years of rural service. Therefore, the presence of the concerned doctors at the designated place of posting should be validated under the condition that 2 years of rural service will be completed on the basis of contract, in which the period of absence will not be counted," added the official notification.
A health activist and MBBS student from Lucknow said on X, "#Chhattisgarh government threat to MBBS & PG Doctors- Do 2yrs Rural manual Labor! Otherwise Degree canceled and 5 years bond amount confiscated!!."
