After recently, MBBS students of Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Noida were beaten by the security guards of the institute, now Indian Medical Association has written to the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene in this matter.
Indian Medical Association has written a letter to the union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about the recent violence at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) Noida. In this shocking incident, MBBS students at the institute were beaten by the security guards of the institute.
The letter highlighted that on June 4, 2023, a group of security guards armed with rods, guns and sticks forcefully entered the hostel premises of MBBS students at GIMS Greater Noida. They broke the gates of rooms and dragged the students out of their rooms and brutally beaten them with rods and sticks.
"More than 20+ students sustained serious injuries and many more minor injuries. Four students met with severe fractures. All the vehicles of the students including car of the hostel warden was vandalised/damaged very badly," reads the letter.
IMA termed the day as a dark day for the medical fraternity.
"We at IMA (HQs) are extremely worried and concerned about the safety of medical students of the afore-mentioned medical college. The IMA condemns the incident. The students are under pressure of undue fear and not feeling safe in the hostel premises and are afraid of the re-occurrence of the incident. It is therefore requested for your immediate intervention in the matter to take stringent action against the culprits. It is also requested that a safe atmosphere for the medical students may be created in the college and hostel premises and build a separate hostel for the use of medical students so that they feel safe and there are no such incidents taking place in future," added the letter.
