J&K: GMC Udhampur, Handwara get NMC's approval for 100 MBBS seats each
The newly approved Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur and GMC Handwara in the UT of J&K have got NMC's Letter of Intent (LOI) for 100 MBBS seats each. NMC in its letter said that the college must provide all infrastructural facilities in terms of teaching and non-teaching staff, building, equipment and hospital facilities as per NMC's norms.
National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved 100 Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) seats each in the newly approved Government Medical College (GMC) Udhampur, and GMC Handwara in the UT of J&K. NMC has issued a Letter of Intent (LOI) to these GMCs.
“National Medical Commission issues Letter of Intent for 100 seats for GMC Udhampur and 100 seats for GMC Handwara. A new fillip to Medical Education in the UT of J&K,” tweeted Health & Medical Education Department J&K.
“I am directed to refer your application for Starting of New Medical at Government Medical College, Handwara under the University of Kashmir with annual intake of 100 MBBS students u/s 26(1)(a)(b) and 28(1)(2) and section 61(2) of the NMC Act, 2019 for the academic year 2023-24,” reads an official order issued by Member/President, Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC, as reported by Kashmir Patriot.
“The Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC examined the Assessor’s report dated 20.01.2023 for assessing the availability of infrastructure facilities of the College, laboratories, library, Hostels, Hospital and availability of the faculty, their experience, publications and residents/tutors, nursing and paramedical staff available with other facilities available at Government Medical College, Handwara under the University of Kashmir for Starting of MBBS Course for the academic year 2023-24. A compliance physical verification of the College was again on 13.03.2023,” it reads further.
