Jaipur's FMGs protest for internship allotment issues at Martyr's Memorial
While the FMGs of India are facing issues in allotment of internships in the country after clearing the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), Rajasthan FMGs started this protest on April 12, 2023, and now the FMGs in Jaipur sit on Dharna at Martyr's Memorial.
The issue of the acute shortage of internship opportunities for Foreign Medical Graduates in India is still not resolved and many FMGs are still waiting to get the internship opportunities. The latest is FMGs at Jaipur sit on dharna at Martyr's Memorial.
The students sitting in Dharna said that they have raised their demand for increased internship opportunities to the concerned authorities many times but despite getting assurance there has been no step taken by the government so far.
Apart from Rajasthan, other states are also reportedly not providing internship seats to eligible FMGs despite the recent guidelines by the National Medical Commission that provided one-time measures to resolve the issues of FMGs. Kerala and some more states are reportedly not following the NMC guidelines.
"Credentials of FMGs are already verified by NBE & NMC before FMG Exam. Now State Councils should allocate the seats ASAP. Let the provisional process be completed later, unprecedented situations need unprecedented actions," reads a tweet by Dr Ashwini Dalmiya, President-Elect, of Delhi Medical Association. As per the students' associations, on the notification of NMC all issues related to FMGs are resolved however, on the ground level it seems it is still not implemented and that's why the students are still waiting to get the opportunity to complete their CRMI.
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences New Delhi has announced the tentative date for Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) June 2023 on July 30, 2023.
