JIPMER: Health Ministry orders probe in harassment charges against HoD

As per reports, junior residents at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) have made allegations of mental and physical harassment against the Head of the Department of General Medicine and called for immediate action against the senior faculty.

The Union Health and Family Welfare has issued directions to the JIPMER administration to immediately conduct a thorough investigation of the complaint of alleged harassment. A junior resident has alleged that he was physically and psychologically harassed by an authority at the department and he also faced discriminatory behaviour.

Jipmer Dean (Academics) has received a complaint from the junior residents that they were subjected to various forms of harassment at the hands of the department head during the three-year PG residency. They sought a re-examination of the results of the exit examination on December 23 as they suspected they were deliberately failed in the practical segment by the faculty member, as reported by The Hindu.
