Amid the Centre's push to develop AYUSH in India and abroad, the report of Lok Sabha’s standing committee on external affairs presented to both houses of Parliament suggested opening more AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa and Homeopathy) centres overseas in a “strategic and planned manner”.

The Committee also advised setting up a ‘Yoga Certification Board for certifying Indian yogic practices and therapies’.

“Collaboration with the Indian diaspora should also be encouraged to disseminate yoga training abroad, in regions where it is not yet popular,” said the report.

“Should make concerted efforts to get recognition of Ayurveda as a system of medicine and adopting pharmacopeia of India so that [the products] can be exported as medicine,” further said the Committee, as reported by Hindustan Times.

On December 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated three National Ayush institutes of eminence - All India Institute of Ayurveda in Goa, National Institute of Unani Medicine in Ghaziabad, and National Institute of Homoeopathy at Delhi from Goa.

“We need to continuously work toward the documentation of 'Data Based Evidence', we had Ayurveda's results as well as effects in our favour, but we were lagging behind in terms of evidence. He emphasized that our medical data, research, and journals have to be brought together to verify every claim on modern scientific parameters,” said PM Modi during the inauguration.
