Madhya Pradesh increases OBC Reservation to 27%
Madhya Pradesh Government has cleared 27% reservation for Other Backward Class (OBC) in jobs and admission to educational institutions, excluding the three departments which were put on stay.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan led government has increased the quota for OBC category candidates from 14 percent to 27 percent. As per the order issued by the state government, all the departments have been asked to make the process of examinations and recruitment as per the order issued by the Advocate General of the state.
However, this reservation will not be applicable for three examinations, which are teacher recruitment 2018, health department recruitment and PG medical examinations as there is a stay from the High Court on them.
Earlier on Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh High Court refused to lift the ban on OBC reservations in the state.
Following the order issued by the state General Administration Department, the OBC category will candidates will get 27 percent reservation in government jobs and admission to educational institutions in Madhya Pradesh.
The order reads: “There are various writ petitions pending before the Hon'ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh, Principal Seat at Jabalpur, where the provisions of the M.P. Lok Seva Sanshodhan Adhiniyam, 2019 are under challenge, whereby the reservation for the OBC class has been increased from 14 per cent to 27 per cent.”
Minister of Urban Development and Housing Bhupendra Singh speaking to the media after the order was issued said that the order was issued that the state government has taken this historic decision on the instructions of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
