Maharashtra: NMC approves 150 MBBS seats at Nandyal Medical College
National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved Nandyal Medical College to commence sessions from the 2023-24 academic year, with an intake of 150 students. National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the state government to start the Nandyal Medical College with an intake of 150 seats from 2023-24 academic year.
The Maharashtra government is on a mission to establish as many as 17 new medical colleges in the state. It has decided to kick-start at least five medical colleges from the coming academic session and is marching against the deadlines to start GMCs in Eluru, Vizianagaram, Rajahmundry, Nandyal and Machilipatnam districts from this academic session, as reported by TOI.
Nandyal Medical College is the second GMC after Vizianagaram to get the NMC's nod to launch classes from upcoming sessions. After getting clearance for two medical colleges, the state government has put the process of getting clearance for another three medical colleges on the fast track.
Recently, the Maharashtra government has appointed superintendents and principals to new medical colleges and also upgraded the existing district hospitals as new medical colleges.
The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of the National Medical Commission also gave a Letter of Permission for 100 MBBS seats to start a new medical college by Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Phirebagie, under Nagaland University in Kohima for the academic year 2023-24. Also, it has approved the setting up of a new government medical college in the Rajanna Sircilla district of Telangana. The new medical college at Rajanna Sircilla Telangana will be established with 100 MBBS seats and will start its academic session this year, 2023-24.
